Stevens Redesignated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense

The National Security Agency’s designation reflects Stevens’ commitment to cutting-edge research and education in cybersecurity

Stevens Institute of Technology has recently been redesignated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) through the academic year 2027. The National Center of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity program is managed by National Security Agency’s National Cryptologic School and aims to recognize exemplar cybersecurity programs. Stevens has held this designation since 2003.

“This recognition once again demonstrates the academic strength of our cybersecurity program,” said dean Jean Zu. “We are committed to providing the highest caliber of both research and learning opportunities related to cybersecurity within our school.”

At Stevens, the Center for the Advancement of Secure Systems and Information Assurance (CASSIA) fosters collaboration and catalyzes research, education and entrepreneurship in information assurance and cybersecurity – providing students and faculty with cutting-edge tools to keep our nation safe. In addition to the CAE-CD designation, Stevens is also one of only two institutions in New Jersey to have two designations. Since 2008, Stevens has also been recognized as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Research (CAE-R).

Offering a variety of programs related to cybersecurity both at the undergraduate and graduate levels, Stevens remains a leader in cybersecurity education and research both within New Jersey and nationally.
