Wesley Mathews
VICE PRESIDENT OF STATE GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS, PSEG
Wesley “Wes” Mathews is Vice President of State Government Affairs – Corporate Citizenship at PSEG, a position he assumed in December of 2025. In this role, Mr. Mathews is responsible for guiding external engagement, policy initiatives, and state government relations. He acts as a key advisor on state public affairs matters and represents PSEG’s interests with state and local governments, trade associations, advocacy groups, and other stakeholders.
Most recently, Mr. Mathews was President and Chief Executive Officer at Choose New Jersey, a non-profit business attraction organization. In this role, he was focused on leveraging his experiences to help the organization build on its success in promoting New Jersey as the premier American state to build and grow a business. Prior to that, Mr. Mathews was a career diplomat in the U.S. Foreign Service, where he focused on strengthening U.S. economic and commercial interests. During his 14-year career as a foreign service officer, he served at embassies in Saudi Arabia, India, Pakistan, Germany, and Nigeria, as well as in Washington, D.C. Prior to joining the Foreign Service, Mr. Mathews worked in finance and business development roles for Nortel Networks and FedEx.
Mr. Mathews graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in finance from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Southern Methodist University. He is the recipient of several U.S. Department of State awards, including multiple Superior Honor Awards for advancing U.S. economic diplomacy. Mr. Mathews serves as Chair of the New Jersey-India Commission, Vice Chair of the 2026 FIFA New York/New Jersey Host Committee, as well as on other boards and charities.
